Good idea waiting to be made real but missing the hardware that will make it happen?
Need to test an idea and tinker with or prototype with embedded Linux or Android development boards?
We get it. We have experienced the frustration of when your imagination outpaces you, but the perfect tool turns out to be a hindrance. It is precisely because of this that we at Watchy Technology would be more than happy to provide a great opportunity to engineers, developers, and students—Bangalorians, if I am not mistaken.
What We’re Offering
One of the R&D activities in developing our flagship product, Bond007, has been experimenting with all sorts of Linux and Android boards for fun. Experimentation now taken out of the picture, we have considered donating our surplus boards to the world—to give back.
Rather than good hardware being wasted, we are leasing it out—for free—month to month to enthusiastic makers to make, innovate, and construct.
The Concept: A Hardware Loaning Library
It’s a public lending library. You borrow out the board, do with it what you want, and another person borrows it out and does the same thing. Simple, effective, and all about letting smart folks do smart things.
- Boards for Borrowing:
- BeagleBoard XM
- BeagleBone Black
- CubieBoard
- Hackberry Board
- Raspberry Pi
- Freescale i.MX6 SBC
How It Operates
You can borrow any of the boards at no charge for a maximum of 30 days.
This is done only in Bangalore.
We’re a community that trusts in nature, so we have to get borrowers to sign up for some reasonable use terms.
Terms & Conditions (Fair Use Policy)
In our attempt to keep this still a community activity, we’d like you to:
Request through your official office or college mail address.
Return company or college ID cards on return boards.
Don’t change the hardware (no soldering or permanent modification).
Return the working board within a month.
The cost of replacing bricked or broken board will be yours.
Watchy Technology has the right to reject or accept the request or return the board early if the case requires.
How to Request a Board?
It’s easy—just reach out to us with your request, and we’ll handle the rest.
We want to be low-key, plain to track, and community-driven.
