Let’s be honest—watching a live-streamed wedding can sometimes be, well… a bit dull. Unless you’re super close to the couple, you’ll likely find yourself staring at a screen filled with unfamiliar faces for most of the event. Not exactly thrilling, right?
Then how do we ever host a live wedding broadcast to online invitees and bring life and engagement to them as well? Follow our lead to create some zing!
- Virtual Presence: When the Groom Couldn’t Make It
There was this one couple whose parents were in Chennai planning to get them engaged in Chennai, but with a twist—the groom was stranded in the USA and could not make it in person. His parents approached us and requested if we could make him “present” virtually.
Game on!
We had a rear-projected screen mounted behind the bride on stage and live streamed the video recording of the groom from the USA on the screen. The surprise? They were together! The rest of the wedding was then live streamed for the other guests who could not attend.
The groom himself kept going on and on about how dreamlike it was to appear on his wedding—even if he wasn’t in the room! And the guests? They adored the innovative twist!
- User-Selected Feeds: Providing the Audience with Choice
We once streamed a television music show where the hosts of the event wanted to put their personal touch into the web experience.
Rather than cutting camera to camera and transmitting a merged feed, we transmit three independent views from cameras. That way, web observers could select their preferred view of the camera, which made them more involved.
The payoff? More engagement, more control for the web observers, and much more interactive experience!
- Video Messages: Inviting Guests to the Celebration
One of the worst things about webcast weddings is that off-site viewers aren’t as emotionally invested. So we tried this thing called video messaging.
This is what we did:
We invited spectators to send a quick 10-second video message to the bride and groom.
Messages flowed in live through SMS on the bride and groom’s phones.
They could view them immediately or save them up.
Surprisingly, 40% of viewers participated! It added a personal touch, allowing virtual guests to be more than just silent spectators. We’re now making this a permanent feature in our wedding live-streaming package!
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning! We’re constantly experimenting to make wedding live streaming more fun, interactive, and immersive.
